COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
JACK, HYDRAULIC, HAND (REMOTE CONTROL)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-J-63.
This commercial item description covers jacks consisting of a hydraulic hand pump with a reservoir, a hydraulic ram, and hydraulic hose assembly connecting the pump and ram.
Salient characteristics.
Capacity. Jacks shall be furnished in the following capacities, as specified by the National Stock Number. The rated of capacity of the jack shall be the load that the jack can safely raise to its maximum height, and maintain for at least 10 minutes without lowering more than 1/4 inch.

Pump. The pump shall have a flat mounting base and a suitable operating lever.
Hose assembly. The hose assembly shall be compatible for use with the pump and ram and shall have a minimum of 6 feet.
Ram. Rams shall be single acting (push only), and without a center hole.
Marking. Jacks shall be legibly and permanently marked with the rated capacity of the jack and the manufacturers name or trademark.
Workmanship. The jacks shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance, serviceability, or durability. All parts shall be cleaned and free of extraneous materials, and burrs, and sharp edges removed. Exposed surfaces shall be coated or finished in accordance with the manufacturer’s standard practice, except that cadmium plating shall not be used.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this commercial item description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Recovered materials. The manufacturer shall utilize recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable.
Packaging, packing and marking. The jack shall be packaged with normal commercial practice and packed in fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide product protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with the National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Marking shall be as specified in the contract or order.
