COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WRENCH, ANGLE, DOUBLE HEAD, OPEN END,
15o AND 60o HEADS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-W-636.
This commercial item description covers wrenches suitable for hexagonal and square-headed bolts and nuts, assigned National Stock Numbers (NSN’s) as listed below.
Salient characteristics:
Material: Steel, Rockwell C hardness of 40 minimum, 55 maximum.
Finish: chromium plated. Both faces of each head shall be bright and shall have a minimum roughness height value of 30 microinches (A.A.).
Marking: Marked in a plain and permanent manner with wrench opening size on the faces or on the handle as close to the heads as practicable and with manufacturer’s name or trademark.
Wrench opening: Sized to pass the gaging, requirements of Federal Standard No. 346.
Chamfer: Tips chamfered or rounded to eliminate burrs.

Workmanship. Wrench shall be free from rust, burrs, fins, nodules, and other defects which may impair serviceability, durability, or appearance. The edges and corners of the wrench shall be clearly defined smoothly finished.
The issue of Federal Standard 346 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
