COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
HAMMER, HAND, TRIMMERS, TACK, MAGNETIZED
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Type VIII, Class 2 of
Federal Specification GGG-H-86.
Salient Characteristics:
Design. Trimmers, tack hammer/magnetized end for picking up and starting the driving of tacks/opposite end subtitle for driving tacks/similar to figure below.
Material. Head-forged carbon or alloy steel.
Hardness. The faces shall be hardened to not less than 45 nor more 60 on the Rockwell “C” scale.
Finish. Polished striking faces/protective coating of the entire head to deter rusting.
Handle. Fiberglass or clear lacquered hickory as specified.

Marking. Hammers shall be legibly marked with the manufacturer’s name or trademark. The country of origin shall be marked on each hammer.
Workmanship. All hammers shall be free from imperfections which may affect their safety, appearance, serviceability, or durability.
