COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WRENCH; TAPPET, DOUBLE SPEARHEAD, OPEN END 15O HEAD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-W-636.
This commercial item description covers wrenches suitable for hexagonal and square-head bolts and nuts, assigned National Stock Numbers (NSN) as listed below.
Salient characteristics:
Material: Steel Rockwell C hardness of 45 minimum, 58 maximum.
Finish. Chromium plated. Both faces of each head shall be bright and shall have a minimum roughness height value of 30 microinches (A.A.).
Marking. Marked in a plain and permanent manner with wrench opening size on the faces or on the handle as close to the heads as practicable and with manufacturer’s name or trademark.
Wrench opening. Sized to pass the gaging requirements of Federal Standard 346.
Chamfer. Tips chamfered or rounded to eliminate burrs.

Workmanship. Wrench shall be free from rust, burrs, fins, nodules, and other defects which may impair serviceability, durability, or appearance. The edges and corners of the wrench shall be clearly defined and smoothly finished.
The issue of Federal Standard 376 in effect on the date of the solicitation shall be used to determine compliance with stated requirements.
Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
