JACK, HYDRAULIC, HAND

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification GGG-J-63.
This commercial item description covers hydraulic hand jacks with the pump, ram, and reservoir in integral unit, and operated manually with a lever.
Salient characteristics.
Capacity. Jacks shall be furnished in the following capacities, sa specified by the National Stock Number. The rated capacity of the jack shall be the load that the jack shall be the load that the jack can safely raise to its maximum height, and maintain for at least ten minutes without lowering more than ¼ inch.

Operating lever. A suitable lever to operate the pump shall be furnished.
Screw extension. Jacks with a 12-ton capacity or less may have a screw extension in the ram.
Center hole. The 100-ton jack shall be provided with a center hole for pulling.
Pump. The 30-ton and 100-ton jacks shall be furnished with a pump or pumps that provide for both high and low speed operation.
Pressure gauge. The 30-ton an 100-ton jacks shall have a threaded connection for the attachment of a pressure gauge.
Marking. Jacks shall be legibly and permanently marked with the rated capacity of the jack and the manufacturer’s name or trademark.
Workmanship. The jacks shall be free from imperfections which may affect their appearance, serviceability, or durability. All parts shall be cleaned and free of extraneous materials, and burrs, and sharp edges removed. Exposed surfaces shall be coated or finished in accordance with the manufacturer’s standard practice, except that cadmium plating shall not be used.
