COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLAMP, SCREW, QUICK-ADJUSTING, FIXED HEAD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in preference to Type III, Class A of Federal
Specification GGG-C-406.
This commercial item description covers steel bar clamps-fixed head type.
Salient characteristics:
Bar: Steel, I-Beam or rectangular shaped in cross section.
A device shall be provided which will prevent the unintentional removal of the movable jaw from the bar.
Crank: Balanced “T” type/steel or malleable iron.
Screw: Steel, 5/8 inch minimum diameter, right hand, square, or Acme threads, designed to withstand specified loads.
Movable Jaw: Malleable iron, easily movable, with mechanical locking device which when locked at any desired position along the bar, shall prevent longitudinal motion of the jaw and be designed to withstand specified loads without evidence of damage or permanent deformation.
Adjustable Jaw: Malleable iron, to withstand the specified loads without damage or permanent deformation or excessive wear. Securely attached to the inner end of the screw and more easily along the bar.
