CLAMP, CANTILEVER JAW
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Type V, Federal Specification
GGG-C-406
This description establishes requirements for cantilever jaw clamp used for clamping and holding work in a fixed position.
Salient characteristics:
Body. Two steel side plates separated by shoulder rivets and shall have a square pressure pad retained by a rivet at one end. A free rotating thrust trunnion shall be mounted in the jaw so as to receive the end of the screw.
Handle. T-type.
Screws. Steel, smoothly cut or formed to fit threaded trunnions, design for load intended. Screws shall have national coarse threads.
Pressure pads. Square, unhardened, mild steel with at least one smooth surface and one V-groove face. Pads rotate freely on their retaining rivets.
Illustration. The cantilever jaw clamps shall be similar to the illustration shown below.
